From time immemorial, The Shakti principle has intrigued, inspired, blessed and enlightened almost all men from various spiritual disciplines and lineages. Whether it is the yogis, the jnanis, the kaulas or the bhaktas….The pinnacle of supreme moksha has to remain unattained without her grace and blessings. The intelligent ones have offered her due credits, respect and sadhana and have known that their path to freedom has to travel through her and cannot be bypassed anyway. This article is only a speculative tool to decode what she means to many kinds of spiritual sadhaks.
THE KUNDALINI SHAKTI OF A YOGI:
This two and a half coiled serpent at the base/mooladhara chakra is awakened by various yogic kriyas, pranayama, hath yoga asanas, mudras and meditation to uncoil from its place and ascend upwards through the sushmana naadi. During this course travel, she pierces the three granthis(knots) making the yogi perceive life processes through various levels of perception and culminates her journey with Sadashiva at the Sahasrara (crown) chakra. The Lalitasahasranama states:
moolAdhAraika nilayA Brahma granthi vibEdini
manipoorAbja nilayA Vishnu granthi vibEdini
aagyAchakrAntharAlastha rudragranthi vibEdini
sahasrArAmbujAroodA sudhA sArAbhivarshini
(The Sakthi when induced properly by yoga, starts to flow from the mooladhara chakram into the swadisthana chakram through a gap called Brahmmagranthi. From there to the manipoorachakram. From manipooram it flows through the Vishnu granthi into the Anahata chakram and then to the vishuddhi chakram, Aagya chakram. From Agya chakram to the Sahasrara chakram through the Rudra granthi. Siva resides on the Sahasrara chakram. Siva is immovable. So Sakthi who is movable, in the form of kundalini flows from moolaadhaaram to sahasraaram and makes Siva bathe in the ocean of happiness (Sudha saarabhi varshini).
The yogi subjects himself to various austere practices to enable this conjugation of SHIVA SHAKTI to happen in his consciousness and hence despite his dispassionate demeanor is moving towards the karunamaya state of Parashakti
THE KUNDALINI SHAKTI OF BHAKTA

Bhakti has its intelligence and subtle strength. It is the most intelligent and effortless way to earn her grace and thus transcend the realms of this worldly existence forever. The Bhakta has no strategy, only surrender and though it may sound foolish, naïve and weak to many, slowly and surely, the Bhakta finds his dissolution in his bhakti Swaroopa to become the non-dual consciousness that has no distinctions or biases. The stories of Andal, Mirabai & the Nayannar saints are constant and powerful reminders of how the Lord had to reveal and surrender himself to the commitment and surrender of their pure heart of devotion. Without her blessings, The bhakta will not lose his ego and identity consciousness and never become one with his beloved Ishta Devata. The hridayam is her dwelling place and when the bhakta learns through constant remembrance like an unbroken dhara of oil to stay in the heart space, he will become enlightened and free.
A few names of the Lalitashasranma can be quoted here:
Bhakta sowbhagya dhayini: She who gives all good and luck to her devotees
Bhakthi Priya: She who likes devotion to her
Bhakthi gamya: She who can be reached by devotion
Bhakthi vasya: She who can be controlled by devotion
THE KUNDALINI SHAKTI OF JNANI

“Bhakti is the mother of Janna”; This powerful statement is not without an apt corroboration. The jnani devotes himself to the razor-sharp path of enquiry into the true nature of the self. The jnani s path is ruthless and dry as he slowly and surely negates the illusionary identities of the mind, body, emotion complex through the technique of NETI NETI and must arrive at the nondual self which is ADVAITA BRAHMAN. He must meditate and regain the self, again and again, at the end of all discrimination endeavours. However, even his success is impossible without the grace of Divine mothers blessings. Here are the hymn recordings of lalitashasranama which point very well to this fact:
Dhyan Dhyathru dhyeya Roopa: She who is the personification of meditation, the being who meditates and what is being meditated upon
THE KUNDALINI SHAKTI OF KAULA

The Kaulas base their spiritual practices on the tenets of tantra, mantra and yantra. They aim for liberation and transcendence through the tools and techniques of mantra chantings, using their bodies and secret mystic sexual alchemy and various divine coded tools like yantras to achieve their final goal. The Bindu is the nondual goal of every Kaula and he must arrive at that to transcend and be free. Without her grace, how can that even be fathomed?
“Bindu Mandal Vasini”
Name 380 Lalitasahasranama
Meaning: She who lives in the dot in the centre of the Sri Chakra.
The empress Goddess Shree Lalitatripurasundari is the presiding deity of the Sri Yantra and accompanied by a group of other Goddesses carries the blueprint of all coded information in this graphic blessing of the Mahameru. The Sri Yantra or Sri Chakra is a form of a mystical diagram called the yantra used in the Sri Vidya school of tantra. It consists of nine interlocking triangles that surround a central point known as a Bindu. These triangles represent the cosmos and the human body. Because of its nine triangles, Sri Yantra is also known as the Navayoni Chakra. The Bindu (Visharga) or point in the centre of the Sri Yantra symbolizes the creative point of the creation of the Universe, the point of origin and return. It is the unity of the God aspect (Shiva) and Goddess aspect (Shakti) in the union of that act of creation.
Thus…we saw how Kundalini Shakti is the common pathway for almost all the major four kinds of spiritual sadhanas and paths and without the grace of the Divine Mother, none of them reaches their full blossoming.
Jai Maa!
