The Ucchista Ganapati Ashtottara Shatanamavali, commonly known as the Ucchista Ganapati Ashtottaram, is a devotional hymn comprising 108 names that extol the various attributes and virtues of Ucchista Ganapati.

oṃ kuṣṭhādyāmayasandohaśamanāya namo namaḥ oṃ

ॐ कुष्ठाद्यामयसन्दोहशमनाय नमो नमः ॐ

Salutations to the one who pacifies all diseases including leprosy and other debilitating conditions and deformities of his sincere devotees, through HIS power.

This verse reflects Ucchista Ganapati’s role as a powerful healer, particularly for his sincere devotees who seek refuge in him. In the tantric and Vedic traditions, Ganapati (Ganesha) is not only the remover of obstacles but also a potent source of healing and transformation. Here, Ucchista Ganapati is invoked as a divine force capable of alleviating both physical and spiritual ailments.

The mention of specific diseases such as leprosy, which was historically one of the most feared and stigmatized illnesses, symbolizes the power of Ucchista Ganapati to address even the most challenging, debilitating, or incurable conditions. The reference to “other debilitating conditions and deformities” expands this healing capacity to all forms of suffering—whether they are physical, mental, or emotional. It highlights the compassionate nature of Ucchista Ganapati, who offers relief and healing to those who earnestly seek his grace.

Through the phrase “his sincere devotees,” the verse emphasizes the importance of faith and devotion. In the tantric tradition, the relationship between the deity and the devotee is essential. Healing is not just about the deity’s power, but also about the devotee’s sincerity, faith, and connection to the divine. Devotion strengthens the bond, allowing Ucchista Ganapati’s healing energy to manifest fully in their lives.

Lastly, the term “through HIS power” speaks to the immense, transformative, and supernatural capabilities of Ucchista Ganapati. This power transcends human limitations and the normal laws of nature. It suggests that healing, especially from severe or chronic illnesses, is not just a physical process but a deeply spiritual one, guided by the divine energy that Ucchista Ganapati embodies.

In summary, this verse celebrates Ucchista Ganapati as a compassionate healer who can remove even the most severe ailments from the lives of his devotees, provided they approach him with sincere devotion. It emphasizes the holistic nature of his healing powers, which encompass body, mind, and spirit.
