Reflecting on My Journey with Ucchistaganapati & Neela Saraswati
Exactly 122 days ago, I embarked on a commitment to recite 1.25 lakh japas of the Ucchistaganapati mantra. Today, I write to share the joy of reaching the midway point, having completed 65,000 japas thus far. This journey has been a profound experience, where Ganesha, in his playful yet profound manner, has led me through moments of both tears and divine revelations, bestowing upon me immense bliss and insights from ethereal realms.
Through this journey, I find myself becoming a vessel for the creation of an entire book dedicated to him, while also facilitating the transmission of his sacred knowledge through auspicious initiation processes like Aawahanam. His playful interactions are interspersed with moments of profound silence within me, wherein he dismantles biases and judgments, granting me deeper inner freedom.
As I eagerly anticipate the unfolding of the second half of this journey, I recognize Ganesha not only as a patron of the arts but also as the embodiment of a harmonious union between the animal and human worlds. His unique essence, characterized by playfulness, wisdom, intelligence, and austerity, makes him a friend, guide, guru, and patron—all rolled into one.
Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and symbol of strength, assumes myriad forms and names. For artists, he represents the epitome of formlessness, effortlessly adapting to any situation or environment. His features, from the sharpness of his gaze to the agility of his trunk, inspire artists to capture his essence on canvas or in sculpture.
His focus on attaining ultimate truth, symbolized by his majestic trunk starting from the third eye, embodies agility and single-pointedness. Ganesha encapsulates the universal sound of ‘om’ and is believed to reside in the mooladhara chakra—the starting point of all spiritual endeavors.
It’s no surprise then that every auspicious occasion commences with an invocation to the great deity Ganesha, who guides us on the spiritual path while keeping us grounded in the material world, encouraging us to savor its sweetness and marvel
