You may have had a beloved
Who appeared too real.
Who laughed and cried with you,
He promised the stars and the skies
And made you hunger for more.
You may have felt too alive
With him
And too dead
When he left.
You may have felt his heart
And read his mind
It all seemed too important
And precious to let go.
So you stayed lurking
In the shade of its pangs!
That day.. you were invited
On a dance date
And you dressed your very best!
You knew it would mean a lot
To be held so close.
And so with all your longings
Still fiery within you,
You allowed yourself to be swept away
And fall into his arms.
It’s there you found your sight
And you really saw
For the first time ever…
That all this time,
you were
Dancing with the dead!
