Andal: Speak to me with your lips!
What use are my breasts
That swell with the longing of my lord
And cause me to ache in sweet delight?
Why does it not rain too hard and too long
To moisten these parched lips
You left unkissed?
What am I to do with this youwana
That has no consort in you to enchant?
I see myself in the mirror
Adorning the garlands meant for you.
Do you not smell my javadhu
That these garlands bring to you?
How can I stay away from my breath?
How can I be more apart?
If forsaken…I will die
Our marriage is an eternal bond of love
Which even you cannot forsake.
Speak to me with your lips
That tremble when they take my name!
( Inspired by Nācciyār Tirumoḻi (A Woman’s Song): By Tamil Alvar saint, ANDAL)
