The two Fridas
A popular work of art amongst the many from the collection of this artist, Frida Kahlo moves me after I read about her turbulent life of short 47 years and her never extinguishing flame of living on and creating masterpieces from her pain.
Her mother placed a mirror on her beds roof where she saw herself and painted many self portraits depicting her minds shades and emotional turmoils as she lay there seeing her body being wasted to decay and her spirit soared even so much to be free from this casket of a mortal coil.
Her fiery passion also plunged her into the depth of internal suffering as it is indeed a blessing and a curse to feel so deeply about life and love. Her love for Diego gave her the insights of her own free spirit as much as how her own outlook mattered more than the love she gave the highest place on her life altar.
Through a course of many miscarriages due to her distorted pelvis and spine from a car accident in adolescence and a polio attack in her childhood.. her journey traversed in and out of hospitals and over 34 surgeries. Her body was bound in caskets but her heart soared like the free lark above her coil.
A story that moved me deeply and inspired me to see how the pain of an artist or a writer is his way of being his genius.
