They lived blissfully in a 70 year association of pure love and complete acceptance for each other and completed their journey through all the tides of time!
Pat met Terry when they were 18 and 22 years old during the 1947 year. They fell in love at first sight. Pat had known heartbreak due to her 3 allmost marriage proposals breaking down as all 3 men died just before the marriage. Terry was a baseball women’s champion athelete and quite ahead of her times.
Since gay relationships were looked down upon in the 40s and 50s and caused many to be abandoned and ridiculed by their families, they lived together for allmost 60 years calling themselves friends sometimes and sometimes cousins. Sexual orientation is such a taboo in our programmed societies that individuals have to hide their love and secretly live in isolation for fears of not being accepted. It’s sad as we call ourselves urban and evolved and yet have tiny scopes of freedom we can accept.
Finally when Terry begins to age with parkinsonism and a deteriorated health, her niece helps rehabilitate them and they accept their relationship to her and Terry’s family after keeping their relationship concealed for 6 decades. They finally wed and marry each other openly and come out of their secret love affair to the world.
Terry died in 2019 at the ripe age of 93 years and is survived by her wife, Pat!
It took this long to reclaim their beautiful love!
